The nearby town Bad Doberan possesses not only a homey little centre and a few shops but also numerous possibilities for sightseeing:The minster of Bad Doberan is part of the Cistercian cloisters and is regarded as one of the most beautiful buildings of the north German brick gothic.The historic train “Molli” was built in 1886 to connect Bad Doberan via Heiligendamm with Kühlungsborn. This narrow-gauge railway is today still a popular transport vehicle not only for tourists.The “Ostsee Rennbahn” is the oldest horse racecourse in continental Europe. Since its creation in the year 1823, the days of racing in Heiligendamm thousands of watchers and horse lovers with different races throughout the year.

Rostock is approx. 16 km away from Heiligendamm and can be reached within 20 minutes on highway B105. The largest city of Mecklenburg with its numerous stores and a beautiful old town invites to dwell and reside. Daily excursions from the ferry harbour to Denmark and the South of Sweden are recommended.

The seaside resort Warnemünde is about 14 km away from Heiligendamm and can be easily reached by car within 15 minutes. The numerous idyllic fishing cottages along the old river, the little cosy restaurants and the miles long sandy beach make Warnemünde to one of the most popular destinations in the region.
