Cadogan Hotel
75 Sloane Street
London, GB
Rating: Star Rating 5; Voted one of the 'Best New Hotels in the World' - Conde Nast Traveller May 2005
The Cadogan was built in 1887. Soon after opening its doors, it became linked with two of the most fascinating personalities of the age, both at the centre of London??s social and artistic life ?? Lillie Langtry and Oscar Wilde. Lillie Langtry, famous actress and close friend of Edward VII, lived at 21 Pont Street from 1892 to 1897. Long after she had sold the house, Lillie would stay in her old bedroom, by then a part of the hotel. The Cadogan is perhaps best known for its association with Oscar Wilde who was arrested in room 118 in 1895. This incident at The Cadogan was immortalized by John Betjeman in his poem "The Arrest of Oscar Wilde at the Cadogan Hotel." Today The Cadogan has the feel of a private townhouse steeped with British old-world elegance. The experience is complemented by touches of unexpected modernity, which are subtly woven in to bring this historical building into the 21st Century. The Cadogan is located directly on Sloane Street, only a short walk from both Sloane Square and Knightsbridge underground stations. It is easily accessible from London's City, Heathrow and Gatwick airports by either express train, taxi or limousine service. Guests of The Cadogan can enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the private gardens on Cadogan Place opposite the hotel, one of London??s many private gardens. For the more energetic, tennis courts can be booked via Concierge and we will supply you with tennis rackets and balls. *** March 02, 2007 to July 06, 2007: Hotel will undergo a refurbishment. During this time the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors will not be in use. The extent of work related noise will be from 9am until 6pm Mondays to Fridays. There might be work on weekends but the noise level should be very low.

Restaurants
Dining
Langtry's Restaurant offers you one of London's most exciting, unmissable, dining experiences. Langtry's combines an intriguing relaxed atmosphere with excellent modern British flavored food. The restaurant has a wonderful history, having once formed part of the home of the famous actress, Lillie Langtry, who lived at the property from 1892 until 1897. In 1881, Lillie caused a sensation by being the first society woman to appear on the stage. On arrival at Langtry's, guests enter the magnificent listed building through a grand doorway, leading to an oak paneled corridor adorned with original mosaic flooring. The restaurant, which has been sympathetically restored, is divided into two separate inter-connecting rooms. Featuring high sculptured ceilings, a magnificent Carrera marble Louis XIV fireplace, oversize mirrors and an original glass chandelier, Langtry's has romantic charm. The subtle color scheme of coco and taupe is accentuated by the red velvet banquette seating and rich colored dining chairs. Photographs of Lillie Langtry adorn the entrance wall, while two ornamental screens give a modern touch to the main room.
