The Connaught in Mayfair has recently been the subject of a multi-million pound refurbishment, thus ensuring its place as one of the world's foremost hotels for the remainder of the 21st century, whilst preserving the authentic elegance so beloved of its guests. Rooms and suites are entered from wide, galleried corridors, with 19th century Venetian carpeting, encircling the original grand mahogany staircase, with panelled landings, original antique furniture, long case clocks, original paintings and light fittings, repolished and regilded. The aim has been to maintain the traditional aspect through architectural detail, finely balanced with contemporary styling and artwork, thus epitomizing the Connaught???s reputation for understated elegance.
