It was constructed between 1874 and 1879 in blue and red brick to carry the London and Midland Railway. Each arch is 40ft in width. ------------------------------- RED KITES AT ROCKINGHAM FOREST The eagle-like Red Kite was extinct in Britain by the end of the 19th century. Now, thanks to work by the RSPB and English Nature, it is being slowly re-introduced. In Rockingham Forest there are now around 70 birds and 40 breeding pairs.
