The Tewin Bury Restaurant Set amidst our beautiful farm setting along the river Mimram The Tewin Bury Restaurant offers high quality British food with a modern twist. Our dedicated kitchen brigade, led by our Head Chef, create imaginative and seasonal menus and they aim to use mainly local ingredients. Thanks to their great efforts and the high level of cooking skills our restaurant was awarded their first ever AA ROSETTE. The restaurant has enjoyed an excellent reputation for its food and service for more then 20 years and recently received a well deserved refurbishment. Solid oak tables and chairs, complemented by new crockery and glassware have given our restaurant a fantastic contemporary look, whilst still in keeping with our country setting.

Area Attractions

Area Attractions
With a population of around 1,000,000, Hertford, Stevenage, Welwyn and St Albans are the principal towns with the latter previously known as the Roman city of Verulamium, the second biggest town in Roman Britain after Londinium. The major attractions in Hertfordshire are Hatfield House (Hatfield), St Albans Cathedral, Hertford Museum, Berkhamsted Castle, Shaws Corner ( a National Trust Property). St Albans Cathedral W: https://www.stalbanscathedral.org.uk The cathedral is built on what is believed to be the site of the martyrdom of St Alban. The hill upon which it stands overlooks the valley of the river Ver, beyond which lie the buried ruins of the Roman city of Verulamium. The shrine of St Alban is documented from early times, and it is recorded that St Germanus of Auxerre visited the site in 429. Early in the 8th century, Bede wrote of the 'beautiful Church worthy of all Alban's martyrdom where miracles of healing took place.' The monastic structure of this church was re-ordered by King Offa of Mercia in 793 and a new order and discipline introduced by St Oswald in the 960s. The availability of huge amounts of building material from the ruins of nearby Roman Verulamium was put to good use in the Norman era, from which time many of the features of the building date.
