The history of Galway City, Glenlo Abbey, and the fortunes of at least two of the great merchant tribes who ruled the city for 500 years are closely intertwined. In 1992, Glenlo Abbey reopened as a family-owned 46 bedroom luxury hotel and conference center and already holds the RAC Gold Ribbon. The 138 acre waterfront estate is home to a challenging golf course with a 12 Bay Driving Range. In addition, guests can enjoy fishing, clay pigeon-skeet-shooting, lake boating on the estate, and an array of other local activities.
