Directions

From Phoenix: Drive I-10 West to Arizona 85 thru Gila Bend to the border, Take Mexican Rt. 8. About 3 hours to the border, another hour to Rocky Point. From East Valley: Take I-10 East toward Tucson, exit Maricopa Rd. South to Stanfield Rd., turn right, proceed to I-8. Go west to Gila Bend, south on Arizona 85 to the border. Then Mexico Rt. 8 to Rocky Point, about 3 1/2 hrs. From Tucson: Drive west on Arizona 86 to the town of Why. Turn left on Arizona 85 S. to the border, then Mexico Rt. 8 to Rocky Point, about 3 1/2 hrs.

The La Hacienda Restaurant located in the Best Western Playa Inn Hotel Rocky Point features a wide variety of menu items from American Style Cuisine to Authentic Sonoran Style Cooking. Serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Daily our Chef prepares traditional American dishes and specializes in authentic Sonoran dishes such as Carne Asada, Tampequena, Chiles Rellenos, Burritos and Enchiladas. Served nightly is our Hacienda Especial of marinated steak, Rocky Point Shrimp and Fish from the Sea of Cortez.

Area Attractions

Water sports including parasailing and scuba diving are enjoyed year-round, and the fishing is excellent. Some folks just like to relax on the beach and take an occasional walk or dip. The Old Port is the place for shopping, with bargains galore. Arts, crafts, and jewelry are available in all price ranges and quality. Most of the local merchants speak excellent English, making your shopping trip easy fun. Don*t miss the fine restaurants where you can explore Sonoran, continental, or eclectic cuisine. Fresh seafood, brought in daily, is on every menu, as well as Mexican specialties. You can buy fresh shrimp and seafood to take home at fish markets along the ocean front in the Old Port. Shopping is plentiful. There are grocery stores, fruit stands, hardware stores, and of course, lots of curio shops. Puerto Penasco has beautiful beaches open to the public. The best swimming is from May through October. Boating, sunbathing and water sports are the popular activities.
