Punakaiki Resort is tucked into the northern end of Punakaiki beach, just 50 meters from the high tide mark, and 300 meters south of the famous Pancake Rocks & Blowholes. Few places in the world can offer such comfort so close to the wild action. During the day explore the natural wonders of the Paparoa National Park, and later, enjoy an evening drink as you watch the sun set gloriously into the sea. Designed in harmony with the local environment, our rooms are cleverly staggered for the best view, while maintaining privacy from one another. Elevated walkways wind over luxuriant plantings to access many rooms.

Pancake Rocks and Blowholes

The Pancake Rocks are columns of limestone resembling stacks of pancakes. At high tide with a heavy swell running, seawater is forced upwards through blowholes.
